Goodbye Shirley

Well a sad night last night as we said goodbye to Shirley in Eastenders! I’ve not been watching too religiously of late, so I’m glad I tuned in as I wouldn’t have wanted to miss her departure, as unspectacular as it was. Shirley (played by Robyn Moore) was a great character, and one of the only roles which wasn’t tied into a large extended family. The trouble was they never really gave her much to do, and she was at the mercy of whatever stories they wanted to give the Ferreiras. A recent legal issue with Pop Ferreira in real life has brought a premature end to a story-line they had going on, and it looks like the ‘enders writers can’t be bothered with poor Shirley anymore. It’s a shame, she was one of the only characters who you might actually like, if she were real of course.
God bless you Shirley! |
